The Redwoods

The suns slowly stirring

I still haven't slept

My minds somewhere else now

Out past my regret

Birds softly chirping

It rings in my ears

So long in the silence

To ponder these fears

I know not yet

Where this path shall lead

Somewhere through the mountains

To plant my green seed

Leaping to life

It makes its way up

Flowing on proudly

Its mind is made up

Mine still is shady

For I am alone

The sun rises to the east

And I long to go home

West to the mountains

Where I belong

Sitting beneath them

The mighty the strong.
